RADIO


In radio there are three sectors, public, community and private. Public is like radio1, it is funded by the public when people pay for their own TV licence. Community radio are, radios like student radios and hospital radios. These radios are a non-profit station. Finally private radios like TFM, capital and smooth, these are funded by using advertisements in there radio shows.


Radio employs over 22,800 with 350 radio stations the employ them. 52% of people that works there are male and the other percentage is woman.

TV

The first TV was first made available to the public in 1925 by a man called John Logie Baird. In 1941 the first 10 inch black and white television was sold for $375. Now in 2012 we have 3D TV’s that go up to over 60 inches.





There are over 6 billion people in the world and there is over 238,000,000 people watch television each day.


Before the 26th September 2012 there was two ways of viewing television, anolog and digital. On the analog channels there were only five channels including BBC1, BBC2, ITV1, Channel 4, and Channel 5. On the digital channels there are all of them channels but extra depending on what you pay, if you get a free view box you may only view the free channels but if you have subscription to a TV company like sky or virgin media then you will get all the free channels and also channels like sky one, comedy central and others.


Some of the most viewed programmes in the UK are mainly on BBC1 with Eastenders , X Factor and Britain’s got Talent. The most viewed programme in television history in the UK was the royal wedding with just under 36.7 million. Eastenders is the UK’s most watched programme daily with other 9 million views.


The TV industry employs over 55,000 people.
